The study assessed the impact of dapagliflozin, an SGLT-2 inhibitor, on left ventricular remodeling in type 2 diabetes and HFrEF patients. In a year-long double-blind trial with 60 participants, dapagliflozin showed a 2.5% increase in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) compared to placebo, along with reductions in left ventricular end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes and diameter. The drug demonstrated meaningful improvements in echocardiographic parameters without significant side effects, suggesting its potential for beneficial effects in this patient population.
