Effect of Differing Orientation and Magnitude of Femoral Torsion on Outcomes and Achievement of the MCID and PASS at 5 Years After Hip Arthroscopy for Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome

Effect of Differing Orientation and Magnitude of Femoral Torsion on Outcomes and Achievement of the MCID and PASS at 5 Years After Hip Arthroscopy for Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome

A recent cohort study investigated the relationship between femoral torsion and outcomes of hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) over a five-year period. The study found that femoral torsion measurements varied among patients, but did not significantly impact the outcomes at midterm follow-up. The study included 362 patients who underwent hip arthroscopy, and regardless of their femoral torsion category, all groups showed significant improvements in patient-reported outcome scores. The findings suggest that the severity and orientation of femoral torsion did not affect the likelihood of achieving clinically meaningful improvements after hip arthroscopy for FAIS.
