Effect of Norepinephrine on Peripheral Perfusion Index and Its Association With the Prognosis of Patients With Sepsis

A recent study examined the effects of norepinephrine on septic shock patients' perfusion index (PI) and outcomes. The study found that nonsurvivors had significantly lower PI and higher lactate levels compared to survivors. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that norepinephrine dose and PI were independent risk and protective factors, respectively, for ICU mortality. The study identified a cutoff value of 0.6 for PI at 24 hours to predict ICU mortality. Patients with lower PI had higher norepinephrine doses.
