In a study on PTSD patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic surgery, researchers compared interventions to reduce emergence agitation (EA) after anesthesia. The study involved pre-operative relaxation techniques, intra-operative Ketamine administration, a combination of both, and a control group. Results showed significantly lower heart rate, blood pressure, Visual Analogue Scale scores, and EA in groups using relaxation techniques, with similar effects in the other intervention groups. The findings suggest the efficacy of routine pre-operative screening for PTSD and the application of relaxation techniques in managing EA in PTSD-positive cases.
