In a study derived from the VICTORIA trial, 419 patients underwent echocardiograms at baseline and after 8 months, focusing on left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular end-systolic volume index (LVESVI). Both measures displayed improvement over 8 months, with no significant disparity based on treatment (vericiguat [n=208] or placebo [n=211]). Deterioration in LVESVI, defined as a 15% decline from baseline, correlated with worse outcomes, including the composite of cardiovascular death or heart failure-related hospitalization. Vericiguat notably reduced this primary composite outcome. Both groups showed significant improvements, suggesting potential benefits of vericiguat in heart failure.
