
The study aimed to create a prognostic model for patients with newly metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) who underwent chemotherapy followed by locoregional radiotherapy (LRRT). The goal was to identify suitable candidates for metastasis-directed therapy (MDT). They enrolled 285 patients and used propensity score matching to compare outcomes. MDT plus LRRT was linked to better survival (HR: 0.640), and a predictive model based on factors like metastasis number and tumour response was established. The model identified low-risk patients who benefited significantly from MDT plus LRRT, while high-risk patients showed no significant difference. MDT could improve survival in low-risk patients with de novo metastatic NPC.
