Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe condition affecting women of reproductive age, marked by periodic physical and psychological symptoms that end after menstruation starts. The study evaluated the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy (EFT) for PMDD. Forty-eight women, aged 18-44, were randomly assigned to EFT or a waitlist control group, with 44 completing the study. Over 16 weeks, EFT significantly reduced difficulties in emotion regulation, PMDD symptoms, depression, and stress, though anxiety levels did not significantly change.
