The systematic review explored the interventions for managing gestational weight gain (GWG) in 23,997 women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The review found that interventions effectively reduce weight gain after GDM diagnosis. Maintaining GWG below Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommendations is protective against large for gestational age (LGA) infants, while exceeding recommendations poses a risk. Qualitative findings reveal weight stigma experiences among GDM women, emphasizing the importance of positive healthcare relationships. The study suggested that optimizing weight management post-GDM diagnosis positively impacts pregnancy outcomes, necessitating further exploration of criteria and interventions for GDM-related weight gain.
