
The study evaluated changes in the radii of curvature and refractive power of the cornea and lens in myopic eyes during treatment with atropine 0.01%. Results showed that atropine treatment caused a slight steepening of the posterior corneal surface and flattening of the anterior lenticular surface within 3-6 months, while the control group showed gradual flattening over 9 months. Changes in corneal refractive power were significant between groups, while changes in lenticular refractive power were not statistically significant. The study suggests that atropine 0.01% has a clinically subtle impact on the cornea and lens, which may provide insight into new targets of action for inhibiting myopia.
