Efficacy and safety of an inhaled pan-Janus kinase inhibitor, nezulcitinib, in hospitalised patients with COVID-19: results from a phase 2 clinical trial

In a phase 2 trial, the inhaled lung-selective pan-Janus kinase inhibitor nezulcitinib showed promise in patients with severe COVID-19. The trial included 205 hospitalized patients and did not find a statistically significant difference in respiratory failure-free days or other efficacy endpoints between nezulcitinib and placebo. However, nezulcitinib was generally well-tolerated with a favorable safety profile. However, the study did not meet its primary and secondary efficacy endpoints.
