A recent study in India has highlighted the high prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients, posing serious health risks. Limited access to recommended antiviral treatments complicates the situation. However, a prospective study conducted from 2019 to 2020 demonstrates promising results. Using sofosbuvir in combination with velpatasvir/daclatasvir for 12 weeks, 96.29% of HCV-infected hemodialysis patients achieved sustained virological response (SVR) without significant side effects. This treatment approach proves effective regardless of genotype or cirrhosis presence, offering hope for better outcomes.
