A meta-analysis evaluating the weight reduction efficacy and safety of Tirzepatide, a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist for type 2 diabetes, has been conducted. Six randomized controlled trial results showed that Tirzepatide at doses of 5mg, 10mg, and 15mg was more effective than a placebo in reducing body weight and inducing a percentage change in weight. Tirzepatide also resulted in reductions in BMI and waist circumference. However, adverse events such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea were more common with Tirzepatide, particularly at the 15mg dose.
