A study assessing zuranolone's effectiveness in treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Postpartum Depression (PPD) revealed promising results. Analyzing seven randomized controlled trials, researchers found that zuranolone significantly reduced depression scores in patients by day 15 and maintained improvements at day 42–45. The treatment also increased the proportion of patients achieving response and remission. Despite a diminishing trend in efficacy, zuranolone demonstrated rapid antidepressant effects with favorable safety. The study suggests the need for extensive longitudinal trials to evaluate its long-term efficacy in treating these conditions.
