Efficacy of Amlodipine and Atorvastatin Combo in Managing Hypertension and Hypercholesterolemia

A study investigated the efficacy of fixed-dose combination (FDC) treatments versus free combinations in managing hypertension and hypercholesterolemia for cardiovascular health. Examining 9095 patients, it found that FDC of 5mg amlodipine and 20mg atorvastatin significantly reduced the risk of cardiovascular events compared to free combination or lower-dose FDC. Specifically, the incidence of cardiovascular outcomes was 12.6 per 1000 person‐years with 5/20 FDC versus 16.5 with free combination. The study highlights the potential benefits of FDC therapy in reducing cardiovascular risk in patients with both conditions.
