
This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the glycemic effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) across different patient profiles, including those with type 2 diabetes (T2DM), prediabetes (pre-DM), and obesity. Based on randomized controlled trials, GLP-1 RAs significantly reduced glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) by −0.72% and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) by −1.00 mmol/L. In pre-DM patients, HbA1c reductions were −0.44%. Patients with higher baseline HbA1c or lower BMI experienced greater benefits, while longer prescription durations were associated with smaller reductions in HbA1c. These findings suggest the potential for GLP-1 RAs to address glycemic control in pre-DM and obesity, expanding their indications for metabolic syndrome management.
