Pediatric Glaucoma Treatment: Efficacy & Safety of Micropulse Transscleral Cyclophotocoagulation (MP-CPC) Study Results

A study evaluated the efficacy and safety of micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (MP-CPC) in paediatric patients with glaucoma. Forty-four eyes were treated with MP-CPC and followed for at least one year. Intraocular pressure (IOP) significantly decreased from baseline to 6 months and one year postoperatively (P < 0.0001). Overall success rates were 47.5% at 6 months and 53.5% at 1 year. MP-CPC effectively reduced IOP and medication burden, establishing its safety and utility as an adjunctive modality for refractory pediatric glaucoma.

A nationwide Colombian study identified 4,608 healthcare encounters related to childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) from 2016–2024. Average annual prevalence was 3.32 per 100,000 children, highest among infants and with a secondary rise during adolescence. Reported cases increased annually (IRR 1.022), while declining markedly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
