Electronic nudges to increase influenza vaccination uptake among patients with heart failure: a prespecified analysis of the NUDGE‐FLU trial

The study examined the effectiveness of electronic behavioral nudging letters in increasing influenza vaccination rates in patients with heart failure (HF). The NUDGE-FLU trial randomized over 964,000 Danish citizens aged 65 and above to receive different electronic nudging strategies. The primary goal was to assess the receipt of influenza vaccine, with additional analysis on the use of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT). In the overall Danish HF population, the influenza vaccination uptake was 71.6%, but only 44.6% in those below 65 years. The nudging strategies effectively increased vaccination rates, and their impact was not affected by HF status. No negative effects on GDMT use were observed.
