Enhancing endometriosis diagnosis and prognosis through revised classification systems

The condition of endometriosis, which is often linked to chronic pelvic pain and infertility, lacks a clear understanding of its underlying causes. Diagnosis typically requires a laparoscopy, and the extent of the disease determines the stage of the condition. However, current staging methods do not effectively predict the severity of pain or prognosis, including the likelihood of successful treatment or disease recurrence. This study examines the shortcomings of existing staging systems and suggests possible modifications to facilitate more accurate classification in the future.
