The study aimed to investigate the association between three dietary patterns (Western, Prudent, and Mediterranean) and prostate cancer risk in Spanish men. The study found that a high adherence to the Western dietary pattern was associated with an increased risk of aggressive prostate cancer (Gleason grade group >6 and ISUP grade 3+4+5 tumors) while no significant effect was observed for the Prudent and Mediterranean dietary patterns. The study suggests that reducing adherence to a Western-type diet may be necessary to prevent aggressive prostate cancer.
