A study examined epicardial pacemaker (PM) insertion outcomes in 174 infants with complete heart block (CHB) from 2000-2021. Device-related adverse events (DRAEs) were noted in 26 infants, primarily due to pocket infections, especially in those aged ≤90 days at implant. Lead failure occurred in 3% of cases. Age at PM insertion is a significant risk factor for DRAEs, with epicardial lead durability comparable to pediatric data.
