
IPF lungs age faster than expected! Using DNA methylation analysis, researchers found accelerated biological aging in IPF lung tissues, especially in severe cases. Four epigenetic clocks—Horvath's, Hannum's, PhenoAge, and DunedinPACE—showed significant correlations, with DunedinPACE highlighting faster aging in advanced disease stages. These findings suggest that epigenetic markers could serve as potential biomarkers for IPF severity and prognosis.
