A study assessed the impact of ertugliflozin on serum uric acid (UA) and gout-related outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Ertugliflozin significantly reduced UA levels compared to placebo over 260 weeks, with a least squares mean change of −0.19 mg/dL versus −0.07 mg/dL for placebo. At Week 260, the placebo-adjusted change in UA was −0.26 mg/dL with ertugliflozin. The incidence of gout-related outcomes was 2.6% with ertugliflozin versus 3.3% with placebo (hazard ratio 0.76). These findings indicate that ertugliflozin lowers UA and may reduce gout risk in this patient population.
