Evaluation of blood pressure variation in recovered COVID-19 patients at one-year follow-up

A study evaluating COVID-19's impact on blood pressure in non-hospitalized patients at one-year follow-up found concerning trends. Among 5,355 patients, hypertension and diabetes were common comorbidities, with 44.3% having prior major cardiovascular events. Post-COVID-19, both systolic and diastolic blood pressures significantly rose. 14% experienced exacerbated hypertension, while 17% developed new-onset hypertension. Factors like age, smoking, and previous cardiovascular issues predicted increased blood pressure after COVID-19. The findings suggest a need for post-COVID-19 blood pressure monitoring, especially in high-risk patients.
