Evaluation of oral health‐related quality of life in children with acute lymphocytic leukemia/acute myelocytic leukemia: A cross‐sectional study

This study aimed to assess the impact of chemotherapy and radiotherapy on the oral health-related quality of life in children with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and acute myelocytic leukemia (AML). A total of 99 children, including 49 with ALL/AML and 50 healthy volunteers, were included in the study. Various oral health measures and the Turkish version of the Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale (ECOHIS-T) were used to evaluate the children. The results showed that children with ALL/AML experienced more functional difficulties (eating, drinking, sleeping, etc.) compared to the control group. The study concluded that childhood ALL/AML and its treatment negatively affected oral health and self-care.
