A cross-sectional study at a general hospital assessed peripapillary retinal nerve fibre layer thickness (pRNFL) in individuals with intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). Using digital subtraction angiography (DSA), computed tomography angiography (CTA), or magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) for ICAS evaluation, high-definition optical coherence tomography (HD-OCT) measured pRNFL thickness. Of the 102 patients analyzed, those with ICAS exhibited significantly reduced pRNFL thickness in various quadrants. Notably, superior pRNFL in ipsilateral eyes was a significant ICAS indicator (OR, 0.968; p = 0.006).
