A comprehensive analysis has explored recent trends in day-case bladder outflow obstruction (BOO) surgery in England. Using Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) and UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) data, 111,043 operations across 117 hospital trusts were studied from January 2017 to June 2022. Procedures such as TURP, LASER, VAPOUR, PUL, and BNI were evaluated. The study revealed an increasing trend in day-case surgeries over the period with younger, healthier patients. Moreover, the study found that minimally invasive surgical techniques are commonly employed in day-case settings. The findings suggest the potential for the safe development of day-case pathways for BOO surgery.

An experimental triple antibiotic paste containing nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, and metronidazole showed better cytocompatibility than conventional Hoshino antibiotic pastes and calcium hydroxide in human dental pulp stem cells. The paste maintained about 75% metabolic activity and better preserved cell viability, supporting further investigation as a medicament for regenerative endodontic procedures.

As a single-arm study, the findings are descriptive and require controlled confirmation.
