In the randomized trial of 1389 low-risk patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting and aortic valve replacement, the GLP-1 agonist exenatide showed no significant benefit in reducing death, stroke, renal failure, or heart failure over a median 5.9-year follow-up. The oxygenation strategy (FiO₂ 50% vs 100%) also showed no impact. No increase in adverse events was observed.
