Expanded Recompensation Criteria Predict Better Outcomes in Cirrhosis

A study on 525 patients with decompensated cirrhosis shows that recompensation—defined by Baveno VII and expanded criteria—is linked to reduced inflammation and mortality. While only 7% met strict Baveno VII criteria, over 37% met expanded criteria, with similar survival outcomes. These findings could reshape how cirrhosis recovery is defined and managed.
