Thalassemia, a genetic disorder prevalent in India, poses a significant health challenge. DKMS BMST Foundation India has launched a Thalassemia Programme to address the burden, focusing on facilitating stem cell transplants for underprivileged patients. The program includes free HLA typing events for pediatric patients and siblings, supported by DKMS Germany. Since 2018, over 14,800 Thalassemia children and family members have received free HLA typing, leading to 345 successful transplants.
