A real-world study assessed the outcomes of transitioning from tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) to tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. Among 309 participants, maintaining virologic response was observed after the switch. Six months post-transition, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) normalization notably increased. Additionally, renal function, especially in patients with impaired kidney function, significantly improved at 6 and 12 months post-switch. For those with osteoporosis, spine and hip bone mineral density (BMD) showed substantial enhancement at the 12-month mark. The study concludes that transitioning to TAF proves effective and safe, with improvements in ALT levels, renal function, and BMD.
