This study focused on characterizing the expression of cancer-testis antigens (CTAs) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their relationship with the immune microenvironment. Eight of the 90 CTAs analyzed were selected for immunohistochemical profiling in NSCLC patients. Most cases (79%) expressed at least one CTA, and their protein expression correlated with RNA expression. CTA profiles were associated with immune cell densities, such as M2 macrophages, regulatory T-cells, and plasma cells. The study suggests that CTAs may have immunogenic effects and could be potential targets for immunotherapy.
