Extrinsic Laryngeal Muscle Tension in Primary Muscle Tension Dysphonia with Shear Wave Elastography

This study aimed to use shear wave elastography (SWE) to examine extrinsic laryngeal muscle (ELM) tension in patients with primary muscle tension dysphonia (pMTD) and compare it to standard clinical metrics. The results showed that ELM tension increased during vocalization in both groups (pMTD and typical voice users), but there were no group differences in ELM tension levels using SWE.
