Factors Influencing Caregiver Interest in Social Needs Assistance in Pediatrics

The cross-sectional study of 758 families with unmet social needs in a pediatric clinic explored factors influencing caregivers' interest in receiving help. Results showed that 41.6% of caregivers were not interested in assistance. Demographic factors like child race and ethnicity, caregiver education, and tangible social needs, such as food or utility insecurity, were associated with greater acceptance of support. These findings highlight the potential to improve communication about available assistance, especially for marginalized groups.
