A study at Rwanda's CHUK reveals factors causing delays in head and neck cancer diagnosis. Patients experienced a 52-week delay from symptom onset to initial consultation, with financial constraints being a primary issue (37.04%). Visits to traditional healers increased this delay (OR 3.51). Lack of operating room availability caused delays in final diagnosis (37.04%). Notably, stage 4 disease led to the shortest time to diagnosis (OR 0.05). Understanding these delays is crucial for global health improvements and reducing the burden of head and neck cancer.
