Children with tubulopathies may face a higher risk of obesity due to rebound growth after experiencing Failure to Thrive (FTT), according to a recent study. Among 26 patients evaluated within their first year of life, 65.4% showed signs of FTT, and 73.1% developed overweight/obesity by the age of 9. Of those with FTT, 88.2% became overweight/obese. The study reveals that FTT significantly increases the odds of obesity/overweight, even after considering factors like preterm birth and low birth weight. This study emphasizes the importance of monitoring and managing FTT in pediatric patients with tubulopathies.
