Fatigue and Quality of Life in Children with Hearing Loss or Obstructive Sleep Apnea

This cross-sectional survey investigated the fatigue levels of children with hearing loss (HL) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The study compared the responses of children with HL and OSA to those of controls. The results showed that children with HL or OSA had higher fatigue levels than controls, as reported by both the children and their parents. Children with HL had similar cognitive fatigue to those with OSA but experienced less sleep/rest fatigue. Furthermore, both groups had lower disease-related quality of life compared to controls. The study suggests that fatigue in children with HL may be under-recognized. Disease severity did not significantly impact fatigue levels.
