A study on the epidemiology and impact of functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) in heart failure (HF) patients with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF) reveals its prognostic significance. Analysis of 890 HFmrEF patients shows that moderate and severe FMR are independent risk factors for adverse clinical outcomes. One-year follow-up data indicate higher all-cause mortality and readmission rates for HF in patients with moderate and severe FMR, highlighting the importance of FMR severity in predicting prognosis.
