GDF-15 as a Predictor of Cardiac Dysfunction

This study explored the role of growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) in predicting adverse cardiac changes over two decades. Using data from the STANISLAS cohort, it was found that higher baseline GDF-15 levels were associated with reduced left ventricular size and increased filling pressures in later life. GDF-15 measurements were also linked to impaired cardiac function, suggesting its potential as a tool for early detection of diastolic dysfunction.
