In a groundbreaking study, the connection between sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and bone health has been unravelled. Large-scale genome research discovered an inverse genetic link between SHBG and heel-estimated bone mineral density (eBMD), a crucial measure for osteoporosis management. This research unveiled 219 shared genetic loci, including four novel ones, proving the significant impact of SHBG on eBMD. These findings highlight SHBG's role in osteoporosis and its potential in aging-related disease prevention.
