GLP-1 Receptor Agonists May Reduce Alcohol Use Disorder Risk

A comprehensive review reveals that GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), commonly used for type 2 diabetes and obesity, may reduce the risk of alcohol use disorder (AUD). Observational studies show a 35% lower prevalence of AUD with GLP-1RA therapy. While initial findings are promising, further studies are needed to confirm their protective role against AUD.
