
This crossover trial assessed the plasma glucose (PG) response in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using an automated insulin delivery (AID) system during fasted moderate-intensity exercise, with and without subcutaneous glucagon. Ten participants performed 45 minutes of cycling with 150-μg glucagon administered in one session (GLUC) and not in the other (NO-GLUC). No hypoglycemia occurred in either session, and time in range (3.9–10.0 mmol/L) was 100%. The GLUC arm showed significantly higher mean PG, area under the curve, peak PG, and end-of-exercise PG, but glucagon was not necessary for preventing hypoglycemia during fasted exercise in this cohort.
