Glucokinase Activation and Its Impact on Frailty-Related Outcomes.

Glucokinase Activation and Its Impact on Frailty-Related Outcomes.

Glucokinase activation lowers frailty risk, improving grip strength, walking pace, and muscle mass. This study found genetic evidence linking glucokinase activation with a reduced frailty index (β = −0.161). Additionally, activation mediated by reduced C-reactive protein levels positively affected grip strength and telomere length. These findings suggest glucokinase activators could help manage frailty and sarcopenia, particularly in diabetics.
