Globally, there have been 265,713,467 confirmed CoV-2 cases and 5,260,888 deaths reported by the WHO. People with type 2 diabetes and other metabolic complications are at a higher risk of severe infection. The review discussed the correlation between glucose metabolism and CoV-2 progression, highlighting the promoting effect of diabetes and related disorders on CoV-2 severity. It also examined key proteins and pathways involved in glucose metabolism regulation and their impact on CoV-2 progression, suggesting potential interventions for CoV-2 treatment. This systematic insight may contribute to the understanding and treatment of CoV-2 from a metabolic perspective.
