
In this 29-year retrospective study of 612 oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) cases, researchers compared binary and three-tiered histopathological grading systems to predict progression to squamous cell carcinoma. While low- and high-grade dysplasia dominated the binary system, no significant difference in predicting malignant transformation was found between the two systems, supporting clinical utility of both.
