The Mendelian randomization study identified specific microbiota associated with four T2DM subtypes: 6 taxa linked to SIDD, 4 to SIRD, and 8 each to MOD and MARD. Key findings include Clostridia reducing MOD risk (OR = 0.57) and Holdemania increasing SIRD risk (OR = 2.51). These novel insights highlight gut microbiota’s potential role in T2DM development and warrant further research.
