Researchers developed microbiota-focused interventions by identifying biomarkers and Gut OncoMicrobiome Signatures (GOMS). A meta-analysis reveals that cancer patients and those with chronic inflammatory disorders share GOMS, distinct from healthy individuals. Furthermore, GOMS patterns can predict clinical benefits or resistance to immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in different cancer types. This review emphasizes the significance of GOMS in immuno-oncology, proposing guidelines to incorporate them into decision-making for future clinical trials.
