A comparative study examines heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and aortic stenosis with preserved ejection fraction (ASpEF) using a Venn diagram, revealing intriguing similarities. Both conditions displayed lower peak oxygen consumption and cardiac output during exercise compared to healthy controls. ASpEF patients exhibited extravalvular abnormalities similar to HFpEF, with significant differences in epicardial adipose tissue thickness. This study raises questions about ASpEF's role as a specific sub-phenotype of HFpEF and its impact on prognosis even after valve intervention.
