Harvesting the Anterior Half of the Peroneus Longus Tendon has Minimal Impact on Foot Structure, Influences gait dynamic

A recent study investigated the impact of utilizing the anterior half of the peroneus longus tendon as a reconstruction graft for anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Over six months, 20 patients underwent this procedure, with comprehensive assessments using a 3D foot scanner and wearable sensors. While foot morphology remained unaffected, significant differences in gait cycle parameters were observed between the experimental and control groups. The study suggests that harvesting the anterior half of the peroneus longus tendon has minimal impact on foot structure but influences gait dynamics.
