
A recent study highlights the clinical relevance of the HDL-C/ApoA-I index as a marker of atherosclerosis. Analyzing data from 1,363 adults without coronary heart disease or diabetes mellitus, the study found that lower HDL-C/ApoA-I levels were inversely associated with adverse cardiometabolic profiles and higher coronary artery calcium scores. The findings suggest that the HDL-C/ApoA-I index could serve as a practical biomarker for assessing coronary atherosclerosis risk, independent of traditional risk factors and fat measurements.
