The study conducted on individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) shows that a healthy lifestyle reduces dementia risk. Using data from the UK Biobank and analyzing 459,840 participants, researchers found that higher lifestyle scores were linked to lower risk of all-cause and specific types of dementia, including vascular dementia. However, individuals with T2DM and lower lifestyle scores faced significantly higher dementia risk. The study also highlighted that the duration of diabetes and insulin use influenced the association between lifestyle scores and dementia risk.
